The Trump administration renamed two Florida Air Force bases after the U.S. Space Force.

On Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence announced the change during a ceremony in Cape Canaveral. Before announcing the new names, he spoke briefly about the Trump administration’s accomplishments since forming the Space Force.

“On behalf of President Donald Trump, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station will now become Cape Canaveral Space Force Station,” Pence said. “And just down the road, I’m pleased to announce another Air Force base, named for a pioneering general who actually founded the Army Air Corps, will become Patrick Space Force Base.”

The two bases have been heavily involved with the Space Force and will continue to be overseen by the U.S. Air Force.

The Space Force is the United States’ newest military branch created by the Trump administration to ensure American dominance in space.
