Moor Herbs has recalled its Angel Formula infant formula because it does not meet specific nutrition and labeling requirements set by the Food and Drug Administration.

According to the recall notice, the affected infant formula, when tested by the FDA, had iron, sodium, and potassium contents that were “well over” the maximum allowable limits, which the agency said could lead to iron overload or electrolyte imbalances.

In addition, the baby formula did not have Vitamin D, which could cause rickets – a softening and weakening of the bones.

Moor Herb’s Angel Formula was sold at its Detroit retail store and nationwide through its website at

The recalled infant formula was sold in 16 fl. oz. plastic bottles with labels that did not have any UPC or lot codes. The product was shipped beginning in February 2019, with all units in distribution included in the recall.

Parents and caregivers of infants who have the affected infant formula in their possession are urged to discontinue using it. The recalled baby formula should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Questions about the recall can be directed to Moor Herb at 313-583-9709.

Parents and caregivers who used this product and are concerned about their baby’s health should contact their healthcare provider.

The company said it has not received any reports of illness or injuries related to the recall to date.
